Confessions - Part 2
Willow saw Buffy at her locker.
"Hey, Buffy what's going on?" she asked walking over to her friend.
"Nothing."
"C'mon Buff, what's the matter? You seem sad?"
"I- I don't want to talk about it."
"Are you sure? Maybe I can help."
"Willow, I really don't want-"
"Okay, okay, fine. I was just making sure. Hey, did you hear?"
"Hear what?"
"Something happened in the library last night."
"Is Giles all right?"
"He's fine as far as I know." Buffy slammed her locker door, much harder than she had meant to.
"Good." She walked down the hall to her class leaving Willow fairly confused. Oz walked up to her.
"Hey, Will."
"Hey, Buffy's acting really weird, and she won't tell me why."
"Don't worry about it, she'll tell you when she's ready." He kissed her on the cheek.
"I know."
Giles was watching them from a safe distance. He had wanted to see how Buffy was doing, but seeing Willow and Oz together only upset him more. He wanted to be happy with Buffy, but it seemed like a romantic involvement was not in the cards. A witch and a werewolf could be together, but not a watcher and his slayer? No, the slayer was in love with a vampire. Anytime she had begun to daydream he couldn't help but wonder if Angel was on her mind. They were never only friends, and Giles knew it even before she told him. She could never really fool him.
He walked away terribly angered. He never should have
told her how he
felt, but it couldn't do anything about it now. What he had done
was indeed
unable to be undone. Buffy knew how he felt now, and no matter
how much he
had hoped, things between them were never going to be the same
again.
Buffy was having a harder time than ever concentrating in class. Her thoughts kept drifting off to Giles. He probably hated her now. She had an awful feeling about it. After his confession she knew that things between them were going to change. She didn't want them to. She didn't need anymore things in her life to change. Soon enough she was going to graduate. That was going to be a huge shift in her life. So many decisions were involved in that. A million thoughts swirled around in her head. There had to be a confrontation between her and Giles, it was inevitable. They could only ignore each other for so long. As much as she dreaded it, she wanted to get it over with. First, though, she needed to give him time to cool down, and herself time to clear her head. She couldn't think straight. While patrolling the night before she had been clumsy and that's certainly not an asset to a slayer who wishes to live. Willow nudged her.
"Huh?" she asked snapping out of her trance.
"Are you with us Miss Summers?" the teacher asked.
"Yes, I'm sorry." The teacher went back
to teaching the class, but Willow turned to Buffy
again.
"What's wrong with you?" she asked.
"I just got distracted."
"You're acting really strange."
"There's just a lot going on right now."
"Buffy, I want you to know that you can always tell me anything."
"I know, Will." They both smiled as the bell rang. They walked out together, and saw Giles in the hallway. Buffy hadn't seen him since that fateful day. He noticed her as well. Willow, grabbing Buffy's hand, walked up to him.
"Hey, Giles, how are you doing?" Buffy could feel her face becoming warmer as Giles looked down upon her.
"I'm... well, I'm not as well as usual. How are you Willow?"
"Oh, I'm just dandy, thanks, but it's too bad about you. What is it? Sounds like bad Hellmouth stuff."
"Yes, well... something like that... and you Buffy?" She looked up at him. There was no hatred in his voice. She smiled a little bit.
"I'm all right I guess."
"Good, well I suppose I should-"
"Can I speak to you for a moment, Giles?" Buffy asked suddenly.
"Now?" She nodded, even though she had no idea what she was doing. His civility toward her had convinced her that this was as good a time as ever for their confrontation. He nodded, and they silently walked toward the library, leaving a perplexed Willow behind.
"Are you sure that you want to do this now, Buffy?"
"No, but I think we should."
"All right then, I'm listening." They sat down at the very table where the confession had been made. She noticed a few chairs missing, and his broken office window.
"What happened?" she asked.
"It was an accident... of sorts."
"Okay, well, I wanted to apologize for what I did last night. I wanted to know if you're angry at me."
"I'm upset with you, of course. It's not the most heartening thing to confess your feelings for someone, and then have them run from the room." That was just like him, some long, drawn out speech when a simple yes would've done.
"I thought you liked my mother. You were always nervous in front of her."
"It's rather understandable isn't it? I mean it's not comforting to stand in front of the woman who is the mother of the woman you're in love with. Especially when the woman is eighteen."
"So, what are we going to do about this?" she asked.
"I could leave, if that would be best."
"What?! No, Giles, I need you." They sat silently for a few moments leaving Giles too much time to think.
"You are disgusted." Buffy looked
surprised, realizing that he was going to reveal what he
really felt.
"Excuse me?" she asked.
"You are disgusted at the fact that I'm in love with you." She felt a rush when he said it. It was like a warm, fuzzy feeling, which could hardly be described as disgust.
"I'm not disgusted... I-I'm flattered." She smiled as she walked over to him, and put her hand on his shoulder.
"Don't touch me, Buffy. It only makes it worse." She removed her hand as if she had been burned. He regretted saying it.
"Giles, I'm sorry."
"Do you know how much it hurt to hear you talk about Angel all of the time> He killed Jenny, and he tortured me. Somehow he still gets you. Do you know how much it hurts to know that I can't compete with him? That, somehow, he's still better than I am?" She sat back down. He put his glasses on the table, and rubbed the bridge of his nose.
"He killed the first woman I really cared about after I met you, and you still love him. He killed my only chance at happiness." They both sat silently, she felt that she could not respond to that. She noticed tears in his eyes.
"I told you how I felt about you, because I thought that you felt the say way for me. Every time you couldn't concentrate I thought that somehow it might have been because of me. I read into every thing so bloody much that I began to believe that you loved me." Buffy once again stood up. She leaned over Giles's chair, and, testing the waters, kissed his mouth gently. He went to pull back, but she slid her hands behind his head to prevent it. Locked in her embrace Giles couldn't help but kiss her back, a little firmer. He reached his hand up to caress her soft cheek. There was an immediate spark between them. They both felt something like fire sizzling deep within their souls. They separated in shock and looked into each other's eyes realizing that there was definitely something there. It had felt so good... He stood up to kiss her again. She put her hands on his chest feeling his accelerated heartbeat.
"Oh, Giles.."
"Yes?" She pulled him closer wrapping her arms around his body.
"This feels right," she said. He nodded as he kissed her more passionately than before. She tried to remove his jacket, but he pulled away.
"No, Buffy. Not here. This isn't the place."
"I know. Well, I'll see you at the prom tonight right?"
"Of course." He kissed her briefly
before letting her leave.
"Buffy, are you almost ready?" Willow asked for almost the thousandth time.
"I'll be right there!"
"Geez, who's gong to be there that you're so worried?"
"Nobody." Buffy finally came in the room, seemingly ready. Willow's green eyes opened wider. Buffy looked more beautiful than ever. She wearing a beaded black dress with spaghetti straps and virtually no back. Her hair was swept up with only a few curly tendrils framing her face. The dress clung to her, and went down in a V-neck. It stopped at her ankles, but had a high slit.
"You look great, Buffy."
"You do too, Will."
"That's for no one?" Buffy noticeably blushed.
"It's for everyone." Willow stood, and
her and Buffy walked out of the bedroom, both ready to have some
fun.
They walked into the crowded gym, which was full
of well-dressed
teenagers. Despite the amount of people, Buffy immediately
spotted Giles,
who was off by himself in a corner. She thought that he looked
very sexy in
his classic tux, sans glasses. When he finally spotted her a
broad smile
spread across his face. They walked toward each other, each
becoming more
attractive as they approached.
"Buffy, you look... beautiful."
Willow was not with her anymore, she had found Oz right away,
and he had
immediately asked her to dance with him.
"You don't look so bad yourself."
"Thank you." he said, knowing that, coming from Buffy that certainly meant a lot. She felt afraid to touch him, due to the presence of Snyder the rat. Well, the year was almost over...
"How does the rest of that dress look?" She smiled, and turned around to model for him. She saw the delighted look on his face.
"You should wear contacts more often... you look... I don't know. You look more playful" He smiled, and his green eyes sparkled.
"But what would I have to play with?"
"I'm always available," she said with a giggle.
He smiled. "Oh, Buffy..."
"So, are you going to dance with me or not?"
"Yes, I definitely am. I don't have too much longer to work here, and what's so wrong with an innocent little dance?"
"Nothing at all." Willow and the rest of the came up behind Buffy.
"Jeez, Buff, how much groovin' are expecting to do with Giles?" Xander asked.
"Excuse me?"
"You didn't even greet us." The first slow song of the night came on which sent Willow and Oz back onto the dance floor. Anya, Xander's date, pulled at his sleeve.
"Let's dance, Xander."
"Promise not to hurt me?" She pulled him onto the floor, leaving Giles alone with Buffy.
"May I have this dance, Mr. Giles?"
"You, my dearest Buffy, may have all the dances you wish." Snyder walked out causing Giles and Buffy to become even more confidant. She put her hands behind his neck, and he put his behind her back. They began to sway back and forth to Brandy's, "Have You Ever?" She began to sing along as she rested her head against Giles's muscular chest. She felt warm and comforted within the arms of her Watcher.
"I love you, Rupert," she said shocking him at the use of his first name.
"I love you, too." They attempted to camouflage themselves within the crowd of dancing teenagers. Most of the boys were in tuxedos so it was pretty easy to go virtually unnoticed. They heard whispers and giggles, but they didn't pay any attention to them.
"Buffy?" Willow asked. "Giles?" she asked in shock. They separated, and faced Willow and Oz. "What are you doing?" she asked.
"We... um... were dancing," Giles said stuttering.
"I think we figured that one out," Oz said.
"But why?"
"I wanted to dance... and he happened to be around...
and you know willing to do that with me. Besides, he's not the
ugliest guy alive."
"Oh, thank you, Buffy. You do flatter me so."
"I try." They smiled at each other.
"I for one think it's kind of nice. It is, however, a tad bizarre as well," Oz put in.
"Thanks... I think," Buffy said.
"Okay, I'm going to dance a little more, bye," Willow said as her and Oz began to dance again. The next song was Ricky Martin's "Livin' La Vida Loca". Buffy immediately got into the beat, but Giles stood not knowing exactly what to do.
"I think I'll sit this one out, Buffy."
"Oh, no you don't. You're going to get jiggy with it Giles, and I'm going to show you how."
"Jiggy? I don't think I'm ready for that."
"Somewhere inside of you there is a part of you that can move along to a song, I'm sure of it." He stood still befuddled.
"Move your hips." She put her hands on his hips, and gently pressed on the part that she wanted to move. She removed her hands once he began to do it fluidly.
"Good, now do that faster." He did, and began to move other parts as well, to reveal a damn good dancer. She dancing facing him, and kept a constant eye on him. She gradually moved closer to him, and they began to move with each other placing hands on each other when they felt like it. It began to get rather sensual with a great deal of body contact. Most eyes turned toward them as they were dancing better than almost everyone else.
"Giles is getting down with his bad self," Xander said causing both partners to laugh.
"I'm trying to." When the song ended they spotted Principal Snyder. Giles grabbed Buff's hand, and they ran to the library. They continuously laughed, both much happier than they had been lately.
"That was..."
"Amazing," Buffy finished. They kissed. They gasped for breath from a combination of continuous kissing, and their sprint through the halls. They slowly began undressing each other.
"Do you want to do this, Buffy?" She unbuttoned the button on his pants."Yes." She pulled them down. She bit her lip.
"Would you like to give into your bad self a
little more tonight?" she asked as she lay herself down on
the library floor and grabbing his hand, drew him down to join
her.
Angel waked into the crowded gym dressed in a tuxedo. He scanned the area for Buffy. He didn't see her. He saw Willow dancing with Oz, and walked over to them. He tapped her on the shoulder. She jumped, and turned to see him.
"Angel, what are you doing here?"
"I wanted to surprise Buffy."
"The last time I saw her she was with Giles." They all looked over the dance floor for either one of them.
"I don't see him. Nothing strange has happened has it?" Angel asked.
"Would you consider Giles and Buffy getting all touchy feely strange?" Xander asked from behind Angel.
"What?"
"They were dancing, and they really seemed to be enjoying each other." Angel looked shocked.
"But where'd they go?" Angel asked.
"Do you think something may have happened?" Willow asked.
"I don't know. Let's go look around. We'll go to
the library first."
"Oh, Giles," Buffy cried out as he did something quite interesting to her body. He began to slow down his movements after they reached the climax of sexual pleasure. He brought his hands lightly across her stomach causing her entire body to tingle. He kissed above her belly button. She moaned in pleasure. He kissed her forehead, and rested his body against hers feeling her body warmth.
"OH MY GOD!" Willow shouted. They both jumped to their feet.
"Willow, hello," he said not knowing what do as they both stood there completely naked in front of Willow, Oz, Xander, and even Angel. The gang stood with their mouths open, and their eyes wide.
"Angel, what a surprise," Buffy said trying to stay calm.
"I think I got the surprise."
"You win."
"Okay, besides the obvious that you did the nasty, which is... eww... what the hell is going on here?" Xander asked.
"Can I get some clothing on first?" Buffy asked.
"Yes, me too." Wesley walked in.
"Ah, I thought I'd find- OH MY GOD!" he shouted when he saw the couple.
"Hey, Wes, Willow used that line already," Buffy pointed out.
"What is going on here?"
"Okay, you mean besides the obvious, right? Everyone else already figured that part out."
"Would you all mind standing outside the doors while we get back into out clothes?" They all left quickly, and stood there in shock.
"We actually saw some of the act," Oz said.
"My virgin eyes are... less virgin," Willow said. Nobody seconded her, since there were no other virgins around. They all noticed how hurt Angel looked.
"Are you okay, Angel?" Willow asked.
"I'll be fine. I survived without her before... for a really long time. Besides, he can give her a better life than I can."
"You love her, though. I mean we all thought that she loved you, too. I don't know how she feels about Giles."
"I knew that they had a special bond, but-" Wesley pretended to clear his throat. "I would like to remind you all that I an Buffy's watcher now, and-"
"Oh, shut up," the entire gang said in unison
closing the unflappable mouth of Wesley.
"What are you thinking, Buffy?" Giles asked.
"I'm thinking that it sucks that we didn't get any cuddle time. I'm also thinking that you should've locked the door."
"I'm sorry, Buffy. I enjoyed every minute of it, well besides being caught, and the lack of... cuddle." She laughed at his use of her words in his sentence, and then blushed at hearing the first part again.
"You were amazing. I'm discovering a lot of moves I didn't know you had."
"Are you quite finished in there?" Wesley asked from outside the door with a polite knock. The clothed lovers embraced, and faced the doors.
"He is an insufferable creature isn't he?"
"He's the worst. I love you," Buffy said.
"I love you, too, Buffy." She hugged him a little tighter, and kissed him on the cheek. The rest of the gang continued to pound on the door.
"I think that we have a lot of explaining to do, and since you're so much better at things than me, I appoint you the official explainer."
"Oh, thank you, darling."
"My pleasure. We could also..." She walked over to the door, and locked it. She walked back over to him, and caressed his cheek.
"Actually, I prefer that plan," Giles said as
they walked into his office
closing the door behind them.
