SUMMARY: Poor Giles is *gasp* vamped. Whatever shall we do???
("I say we party" ~ Buffy in Prophecy Girl)
SOLO'S NOTE: Definitely one of the classics and really quite
timeless. I myself had to re-read it before postage ;-)
Giles pulled his coat tighter, to keep
out the cold November wind. It was past midnight, and he was
heading for the library, in desperate need of a book that
contained a prophecy that couldn't wait 'til morning. He walked
across the parking lot of Sunnydale High, glancing over his
shoulder from time to time, looking for any stray vampires that
might be out tonight. Vampires, unlike humans weren't affected by
the cold, he thought miserably. This is supposed to be
California, land of the eternal sun.
As he unlocked the door to the school, a beautiful woman with
short dark hair called to him. "Hello, there! Can you help
me? I think I'm lost." Her voice had a sensuous French
accent.
Giles faced her, his hand in his pocket, grasping his cross. Oh,
she's definitely a vampire, he thought. Beautiful French women
never ask me for help on dark lonely nights.
The woman came up to him, smiling seductively. Giles smiled back,
then whipped out the cross. The woman screamed and covered her
eyes. Giles jumped inside the school and locked the door after
him. Well, I'm stuck here till daylight he thought.
He made his way to the library, hoping to make the best of things
by finding the book and doing some research. He located the book
, then made himself some tea. He soon dozed off.
Gentle fingers stroking his hair woke him. He jerked up to find
himself face to face with the female vampire. She smiled
dangerously at him.
"Now that wasn't nice. I only asking for help and you
attacked me. You've been a bad boy, I think you need to be
punished."
Giles backed up until he hit his desk. He reached around for
anything that could be used as a weapon. His hands came upon a
vial of holy water. He quickly grabbed it and prepared to fling
it at her. She moved too fast for him to follow, knocking the
vial out of his hand, and pushing him down across his desk.
"I bet you haven't been in this position very often,"
she smirked. " My name is Janette. What's yours?" He
looked at her stonefaced, refusing to answer. She leaned forward,
and whispered in his ear," Answer me, mortal, or I shall
lose my temper."
"Giles," he said unsteadily.
She climbed on the desk , straddling him."Giles. You're
British, I see. Oh well, I suppose you'll have to do, I am
desperate. I'm sorry, Giles, but I haven't had a bite to eat in
days, so you're going to be my dinner," she said quite
sympathetically. He struggled against her, trying to push her off
of him. "Shh," she said. "Don't fight. It only
makes it more unpleasant." She looked around at the books
and weapons in his office. "You're a vampire hunter? Then I
guess it's appropriate that you die at the hands of one of my
kind."
Janette kissed him forcefully, moving her hands down to his
unsnap his pants. Giles pushed her hands away, and she slapped
him hard across the face. "You're going to die anyway. Why
not have one last night of pleasure first?" She finished
undoing his pants and pulled them down. She took his limp shaft
in her hand. "I guess I'll have to do something about
this." She knelt down beside him and touched the tip with
her tongue. Giles still groggy , winced at her touch.
"Stop!" he begged. Janette laughed and took his member
into her mouth. "Unnh!" Giles moaned with pleasure and
embarrassment. This was not the most dignified way to die. His
eyes fell on the book he had been reading. He wrapped his finger
around it. Janette was too preoccupied to notice. He sat up
quickly and brought the book down with all of his strength on her
head. She released him, and he rolled off the desk, hampered by
his pants which were around his ankles.
Janette shrieked in rage, and threw herself on top of him.
"No more Ms Nice Guy. Prepare to die. No, I think I have
something better in mind. A fate more fitting for a vampire
hunter." Her beautiful face twisted into visage of a
vampire. Giles noticed that she wasn't the same as the local
vampires. Her eyes were an unholy green, and her fangs were sharp
and ready, but her face was somehow not as deformed as the
others.
She grabbed his head and twisted it to one side, exposing his
neck. She kissed his cheek delicately, then plunged her fangs
into his neck. Giles arched underneath her, but she held firm. He
felt his life slipping away. "I'm sorry, Buffy, " he
whispered. As darkness claimed his vision, she released his neck.
Janette bit her own wrist and held it to his mouth. Giles was too
weak to resist. The blood trickled down his throat.
Some time later, he opened his eyes and sat up. He felt
wonderful. He got to his feet and looked around. His senses had
been intensified. He could hear people talking in a car outside
of the building, he could smell the exhaust fumes. He looked at
Janette, sitting on his desk. "What have you done to me?
" he demanded.
She laughed. "Isn't it obvious? I made you into a
vampire."
Giles frowned in confusion.
"No, I can't be a vampire. I'm still me. No demon has taken
over my body." Janette walked over to him, and traced a
finger along his body from his chin to his stomach. "I'll
tell you a secret, if you promise not to tell. There are no
demons. Vampires don't lose their souls. it's a story your kind
made up to make it easier to kill us. Don't feel guilt about
murdering a vampire, they 're not human anymore. They're demons.
Isn't that how it goes?"
Giles shook his head in disbelief as everything he had ever
trusted in crumbled around him. "Why did you do this? Why
didn't you just kill me?"
"I like you, you're pretty. You better think about where
you're going to hide from the sun. It'll be daylight in a few
hours. Oh yes, I imagine that you're starting to get hungry right
about now. Do you want me to go with you while you hunt?"
"Never," Giles said softly. Janette smiled wickedly.
"Oh but you will. The hunger will overwhelm you, and you
won't have a choice. A bit of advice; the ones you care the most
about always make the tastiest meals." She turned around and
walked away. "Goodbye darling, see you in hell."Giles
collapsed on the floor in despair. Through the haze of misery,
and terrible hunger, one name formed itself clearly in his mind.
Buffy.
* * *
The cold no longer bothered him, he realized as he stepped out of
his car. Well, at least becoming a vampire has one advantage, he
thought dismally. Giles had parked his heap a couple of blocks
from Buffy's house. He didn't want anyone to see his car there
and get suspicious. He walked along the sidewalk, listening to
the occupants of the houses along the way. He could hear them
talking, snoring, making love. It would have been fascinating if
the blood lust wasn't on him. He closed his eyes and focused on
his purpose. Buffy, he had to get to her.
He stopped in front of her house. He looked up at the bedroom
windows. He could hear the breathing of the sleeping women,
inside. Buffy's was so different than her mother's. He moved
below her window, and looked around for a handhold to pull
himself up. Then instinct took over, and he floated upward.
"I can fly!" he thought with shock and delight. Giles
knew there was a sect of vampires that had the ability of flight;
it looked like he had unwilling joined them.
He landed on the ledge by her window. He peered inside. She lay
sleeping, her hair flared out around her. He reached down and
pried the window open. He wasn't too surprised to find that he
could enter uninvited. Different sects had different rules, he
supposed. He stood by the window watching her sleep. He took a
deep breath. The room seemed filled by her distinctive scent. He
moved slowly closer, listening to her heart beat. His body ached
for her blood and for something else, something that he had been
ignoring for months. "Damn!" he whispered. All of his
emotions seemed to be intensified.
Buffy woke with a start, pulling a stake out from under her
pillow. She looked, bleary-eyed at Giles and said "Giles, is
that you? What are you doing here? There's a vampire close by; I
don't think it's Angel."
Giles sat on the edge of her bed, and ran his hand along the side
of her face. "It's all right Buffy. I've got something
important to tell you about Angel." Buffy tried to get to
her feet, but Giles' hands on her shoulders kept her in a sitting
position. "Look Giles, this can wait. There is a vampire
very close, and I have to deal with it now!'
Giles put a finger over her lips. "It's okay. No one is
going to hurt you. Please listen to me. Angel lied to you about
the gypsy curse, about losing his soul, about everything
really."
"What are you talking about?"
"When a human becomes a vampire, they don't lose their soul.
Their body changes and they acquire a tremendous desire to kill,
but they remain themselves. All the terrible things that Angel
did where done by him, not some demon." Buffy gaped at him.
"That's crazy! You've seen that Angel isn't evil anymore.
He's helped us a lot of times. Why would he do that if he was the
evil one all the time!"
"I have no doubt that Angel regrets what he's done in the
past. He may even be trying to make amends for it. But it wasn't
a demon that made him do it. If he ever gets tired of seeking the
light, he could revert to his old ways again. It wouldn't mean
losing his soul. You have to understand that. It would be so easy
for him to do so."
Buffy stared into his eyes. His hand moved up again to her face.
A cold feeling spread through her entire body. "Giles, how
do you know all of this?" she asked fearfully.
"I think you've already guessed how, " he whispered.
"No, No! This can't be happening! What are we going to
do?" Buffy cried.
"There isn't anything to be done. This is not a virus, you
can't take a pill to cure it. " He bent forward and kissed
the top of her head. " I have to make a stop by the blood
bank, or I'll become a threat to the people around me. " He
stood up and lifted her chin with one hand. "I'll be in my
basement come daylight. There's no windows, I shouldn't have any
problems. My front door will be unlocked. I'll be waiting for
you." They both knew what he had meant. They had discussed
the possibility of one of them becoming a vampire and had decided
what action they would take if it happened. Giles went to the
window, then stopped and turned to Buffy. "You truly are the
best Slayer. " He climbed out and was gone.
Buffy fell back onto her pillow, her small body wracked by sobs.

Giles sealed the final envelope, and placed it on the desk with
the others. It felt rather odd to be settling his mortal affairs,
especially since he wasn't mortal anymore. He looked at his
watch, almost 6 am . The sun had risen. Dark depression filled
him; he would never see the sun again. He rose from the small
table he had been sitting at in the basement of his house. He
picked up the empty packets of blood that he had stolen from the
blood bank, and stuffed them in the trash can. There was no need
for Buffy to see them when she came. Buffy. He closed his eyes
and pictured her as he had last seen her. None of the customary
make up and skimpy clothes, just a long t-shirt that barely
covered her. Touching her had been agony. His desire for her
blood had been stronger than anything he had felt before. His
body told him that it wasn't just her blood that he had wanted.
He had wanted to forget all the rules and duties that governed
his life, and simply take her.
Giles sighed. He was losing control of his emotions. It was best
that he die, before he had the chance to hurt her.
He heard her open the front door and start down the stairs to the
basement. He was prepared. She entered the room and stopped when
she saw him. "Giles," she whispered.
He smiled. "Buffy, I'm glad you came." He walked over
to the table and gestured to the envelopes. " If you
wouldn't mind, please see to it that these are mailed. They're
for my family and my attorney. Personal matters. I've already
sent a message to the Watchers. I'm sure that they will be
sending another Watcher along shortly." He approached her.
"Well, let's get this over with then, shall we."
Buffy pulled a stake out of her jacket and held it up. She looked
up into Giles' face. His gaze was steady and his features
composed. She turned away. "I can't!" she sobbed.
Warm arms encircled her, and a gentle voice whispered in her ear.
"Yes you can. You're the Slayer, you can do anything."
He kissed her ear and said," Buffy, this is what I want. I
can't live with the knowledge that I might hurt someone, that I
might hurt you."
Buffy turned around to bury her head in his chest. He held her
tight, stroking her hair , and whispering comforting things to
her. Finally, he pushed her away.
"Come on now, Buffy . We must get this over with."
"I can't hurt you Giles. I just can't" Buffy said
firmly.
Giles lifted her face with both hands. " Don't you
understand? You may not want to hurt me, but I want to hurt you,
very badly. I can almost taste your blood now. "
Buffy smiled knowingly, "You would never hurt me. You don't
have it in you."Giles moved his hands down to her shoulders,
then pulled her in close. He kissed her forehead, then lowered
his head to her neck. He took the tender flesh between his teeth.
She didn't try to break free, she just waited trustingly. Oh
Buffy, I thought I taught you better than that, he thought. She
gasped as his teeth broke the skin and he tasted her blood. He
could feel the power in it and knew why the Master had so
hungered for it. He shoved her away and moved to the other side
of the room.
Buffy put her hand to her neck, and pulled it away staring at the
small blood stain. "That's some hickey you gave me
Giles."
"How can you make jokes at a time like this? Don't you see
how dangerous I have become?" was his angry response.
Buffy walked over to him and leaned her head against his back.
"What I see is that even though you are a vampire; and even
though you tasted my blood, you couldn't kill me. That's not who
you are. "
"Maybe not, but I can't stand to live like this."
She wrapped her arms around his waist. "You can't give up, I
need you. Nobody else can replace you. You have to stay and help
me. Please Giles."
"Buffy, I can't. . ."
She took his arm and turned him around to face her. "Please
Giles. I have so much work to do. So many vampires to kill.
Except you." she smiled. Giles smiled in spite of himself.
"You are my little Slayer, aren't you?" She threw her
arms around his neck and held him in a tight embrace. He said,
"I know where we should start. There's a certain French
bitch that I would very much like shove a stake into."

Willow, Xander and Buffy huddled in the all too quiet library
discussing the events of last night. Willow sat quietly, tears in
her eyes, while Xander kept shaking his head and muttering,
"No, this can't be happening."
"It has happened, and we're all going to have to learn to
deal with it," Buffy said firmly.
Xander rubbed his head in confusion. "I don't get it . You
say that Giles is still Giles. No demon has taken over him."
Buffy grimaced. "No. Apparently the whole idea of demons
taking over the body of the person who becomes a vampire is not
true. Their soul remains; they just change somehow."
Xander shoved his chair away from the table angrily. "That
means that Jesse was still alive. I killed him."
"No. Xander don't think of it like that. Jesse was a killer.
It wasn't his fault that it happened, but he had to be
stopped."
Xander leaned over the table, glaring at her. "So Giles has
vamped, but he's still our good old Watcher friend, only with a
very strict diet, but my best bud, that I've known all my life,
was a murdering monster that had to be stopped? That doesn't make
sense. Are you sure that he's not trying to fool you for some
reason?"
"I'm sure, Xander. He is still Giles. " She was
interrupted by the arrival of Principal Snyder. He look unusually
rumbled and extremely angry.
"What are you doing hanging around here? Mr. Giles isn't
coming in today. In fact , he isn't coming in again, ever."
Buffy pretended innocence and asked, " What do you mean,
sir?"
"What I mean is that arrogant British jackass called me up
at 4:30 in the morning to tell me that he no longer wanted to
work as our librarian. He said he needed to go off and find
himself. At his age! If he hasn't found himself by now, he better
give up looking. Well, I'm going to have to close the library
until we can find a replacement. I don't have anyone to spare to
take over right now." He looked at them and they looked
back. "That would mean that you have to leave now," he
said sarcastically.
They slowly filed out. Snyder put up a sign that read 'Library
closed until further notice' .
"It's the end of an era," Willow whispered.

Giles paced the basement anxiously. Would the sun never go down?
He felt like a caged animal. Perhaps he was. To make things worse
the hunger had returned, and he had no more blood left. I'll have
to steal more tonight, he thought. His mind went back to this
morning, and the taste of Buffy. So different than what he had
taken from the blood bank. So much more alive. Maybe that was
because it was fresh.
He pushed those thoughts from his mind. When the sun finally set,
he would hunt down Janette. If she was still in Sunnydale, he was
going to make her pay for what she had done to him.
The problem was where to look? She wouldn't be with the local
vampires. She was different, better than them. So was he; he
could feel it. Angel might know. He always seemed to have the
latest information on the vampire community. He must have heard
something about a strange and powerful new vampire in the
neighborhood.
He heard a noise above. He glanced at his watch. Only 1 o'clock.
It couldn't be Buffy, unless she was cutting class. He sniffed
the air. Not Buffy. A male. Uninvited in his home. He felt rage
boiling inside of him. Some burglar was upstairs going through
his things and there wasn't a damn thing he could do about it.
Then footsteps sounded on the stairs. Giles pressed himself
against the wall. The beam of a flashlight flickered around the
room, then the burglar came down. He had a sack stuffed full of
valuables . The beam focused on the ancient tomes that Giles had
brought down to keep him company. He picked one up greedily, and
said, "Man, this place is overloaded with antiques. What
kind of idiot would have all of this valuable stuff in his house
where anybody could break in and get it?"
"I would." Giles said. The burglar whirled around to
face Giles, pulling a gun out of his jacket. Giles laughed , and
smacked the gun out of his hand. He grabbed the man by the lapels
and lifted him off of the ground. "You seem to have a great
deal more knowledge about antiques and such than one would expect
from the average robber. Why would that be?"
"Fuck you!" the burglar spat.
"Wrong answer." Giles face changed. His eyes glowed an
evil green and fangs appeared. "Let's try this again, shall
we?"
"What are you?" the man struggled wildly.
"You answer my question first," Giles hissed.
"It was Leo, you know the exterminator. You had him in about
a week ago. He saw all of this stuff and told me about it. We
were going to split the take. Okay? You can call the cops
now," he answered in a trembling voice.
"I don't think so. Haven't you ever heard the expression
that a man's home is his castle. I guess that would make you an
invader, and invaders always die." Giles set him on his feet
again, and shoved his head to the side, to get at the inviting
neck. "No!" he screamed as Giles sank his fangs into
his jugular.
Blood. Wonderful. Better than wine. The burglar's frantic
movements became weaker and weaker until they stopped. Giles
sucked until there was nothing left. He released the limp body
and it fell to the floor.
Giles look at the dead man, and for a moment felt joy in the
killing. But that moment passed. He sank to his knees in horror.
"Oh God, what have I done?"
***
Buffy raced to Giles' house after school let out. She had a very
weird feeling that something was wrong. She shook her head, Giles
had been vamped, of course something was wrong.
She came to the door and noticed that it was unlocked. "Uh
oh," she whispered. She cautiously entered the house. She
took a deep breath as she noticed the place was ransacked. She
flung open the door to the basement and ran down the stairs. The
lights were out, so she could see nothing, but she sensed that
Giles was huddled in the corner. She carefully went to him."
Giles, are you okay?" she whispered.
"Get out. Get out before it's too late," was the
strangled reply. She sat down beside him. "What happened?
Tell me."
"No, I can't"
She reached out in the darkness, and found one of his hands.
" Please, tell me. Let me help."
He sighed in despair. "There was a prowler. He was going
through my things, stealing my books. He came down here and I . .
I killed him. His body is in the closet over - "
Buffy felt icy fingers of fear grip her heart. "You mean you
drank his blood?" There was no answer. "Giles, did he
threaten you or anything? Did he have a gun?"
"Well, yes, but it doesn't matter. He couldn't have hurt
me."
Relief flowed through Buffy. She touched his cheek. "He
didn't know that. Giles, he brought the gun in case he ran into
someone while he was robbing you. He was a dangerous man. Maybe
he wouldn't have been able to hurt you , but what about the next
person?"
She felt his smile. "That's rather odd logic, and I don't
think it would stand up in court."
"I don't care. I'm not going to waste my energy feeling
sorry for some worthless criminal, and I suggest you don't
either. Can we turn on the lights, please? I'd like to see your
face."
"No," he whispered. I don't want you to see me."
She ran her finger across his mouth and felt his fangs.
"Giles?" she said in surprise.
"I think you'd better leave," he said sadly.
"I'm not going to leave you like this," she said
firmly. She pulled his head down into her lap. He lay there
quietly, while she stroked his hair and whispered, "Shh,
everything's going to be all right, we'll think of something.
You'll see."
They stayed like that for a long while, Finally, a groan escaped
Giles' lips and he sat up. Taking her by the shoulders, he
said," I want you, Buffy. Very much." Buffy took a deep
breath before answering. "You want me for a meal or for
sex?" "Both, I'm afraid," he said softly. Then he
kissed her. At least his fangs were gone, she thought as she
returned his kiss.
She didn't resist as he pushed her back on to the floor. He
covered her body with his own, and his hands began to explore.
His mouth went to her neck, but she caught his face and drew him
back. " I don't think you should kiss me there. It's too
tempting," she said. He laughed, a little desperately, and
returned his attention to her lips.
His hands found their way under her shirt and he stroked her
back. "That's nice, " she whispered. He pulled the
shirt up and over her head. Then he unhooked her bra, and slid it
off. His hands went to her breasts and he teased one of her
nipples between his forefinger and thumb, until it hardened.
" That's even nicer," she said shakily.
So intent was she on this delightful sensation that she didn't
notice his mouth wandering back to her neck. His fangs plunged
into her neck and she cried, "No Giles!" She struggled
to push him off, but he was heavy and he had a vampire's
strength. Her panic faded as she realized her wasn't draining
her, just tasting . She held him close and waited for him to
finish.
He released her, and whispered in her ear, "You have no idea
how good you taste."
She pulled him back to face her. "That's the second hickey
you've given me in one day. I'm going to start to lose my temper
pretty soon."
He laughed. "We can't have that, now can we?" and
reached down to unsnap her jeans.

Giles tugged Buffy's pants and underwear down. When he reached
her shoes, everything got tangled up and he had to stop to sort
things out. Buffy giggled as he muttered to himself about her
unreasonable taste in footwear.
"I'm glad I'm providing you with entertainment," he
said sarcastically.
Buffy focused her eyes, she could barely make out his form in the
darkness. "Sorry Giles. This isn't exactly how I pictured
the big seduction scene."
Giles snorted, then asked softly," Have you ever done this
before?"
Buffy hesitated then answered, " Well, kind of."
Giles paused in his battle with her high top sneakers. "How
can you kind of have sex? You either have or you haven't"
"It was with my old boyfriend in the back seat of his car.
It was over with before I knew what was happening. I mean, he was
saying 'Thanks Buffy, that was great' and I was thinking 'That's
it? Did you even need me to be here for that?'" She stopped
when she heard muffled laughter. "Are you finding this
amusing?"
"Never. That's terrible. You should have informed the young
man of his shortcomings. Aha!" he cried as he got her shoe
off and sent it flying across the room. "One more to
go!"
"Giles, I wasn't sure if vampires could . . perform, if you
know what I mean." The other shoe came off and then her
pants. Giles began throwing off his own clothes.
"Trust me, I can perform. I can perform for hours."
Buffy was giggling so hard that she started to hiccup. " If
you have any complaints about my performance, don't hesitate to
let me know. " His eyes were better than hers in the dark
and they drank in her slim, golden body. He lay down beside her
and pulled her against him. He kissed her mouth greedily. Buffy
hiccupped "Hold your breath. That usually works," he
whispered.
"I'm , hic. trying, hic, " she said. Giles gave up on
her mouth and worked his way down to her breasts, kissing, then
sucking. Buffy's gasps of pleasure were occasionally interrupted
by a loud hic. "Giles, does it mention any where in the
Watcher journals that the Slayer is not suppose to have a decent
love life, because I'm beginning to feel doomed here."
Giles rested his head on her chest and said, "Slayers
usually have very active sex lifes. All that adrenaline needs a
release. Usually, it's with their Watcher. In fact, that is part
of the job requirements."
"What?!!" Buffy shrieked, grabbing him by his
hair." How come you never mentioned that before?"
Giles grinned wickedly, " Because I just made it up. Have
you noticed, your hiccups have stopped?"
It was true, Buffy realized. "You're an evil creature,"
she said delightedly. Giles moved up and kissed her lips.
"You could be right." He took her hand and guided it
down to his swollen shaft. "How does that measure up to Mr
Slap and Dash ?"
Buffy sighed happily, " I think you're going to get a good
review for your performance today."
Giles moved back on top of her, and slipped his hands between her
legs. He rubbed gently, enjoying the warm, wet feel of her. His
fingers entered her , and she moaned softly in his ear. As he
stroked slowly , her body moved in rhythm. He pulled her legs
farther apart. "Giles!" she cried as he pushed his way
inside of her.
She wrapped her legs around his waist and lifted her hips up
urgently. " Don't worry," he said , as he began to
thrust, "I won't leave you wondering what happened."
Buffy's answer was a wordless cry of pleasure. As his strokes
became harder, her fingernails dug into his back.
He looked down at her face. Her eyes were closed and the tip of
her tongue was sticking out of the corner of her mouth as she
concentrated on their shared purpose. He almost laughed for joy.
He had never felt so good in all of his life. His face changed
into it's vampire form, but he felt no fear. He knew he could
never hurt her; she was his life.
Low moans came from Buffy as she reached her climax. Her body
began to tremble and then convulse as it hit her. She called his
name, and that was enough to send him over the edge too.
They lay tangled up in each other, for a long time. Then Giles
had to say, "I trust that met your requirements."
Buffy kissed his chin and said, "You know when I told you
that you were a god after we dealt with that witch?"
"Yes"
"I was not exaggerating."
* * *
Buffy yanked open the closet door to have a look at the body of
the burglar. Yep, he was definitely dead; two nice big fang marks
on his neck. I should feel bad, Buffy thought, but then, what if
he had come in on Giles before he was vamped? Would he have shot
him? Buffy pictured her Watcher lying dead on the floor with a
bullet in his head. "Better you than him," she
whispered and dragged his body out of the closet.
Giles came down the stairs, carrying a large duffel bag. He had
changed from his customary tweeds into a black silk shirt and
black pants. "Yummy!" Buffy said. Giles smiled
wickedly, " I felt the urge for darker colors. I suppose
I'll have to get an entire new wardrobe. What is the fashionable
vampire wearing these days?" He eyes fell on the corpse, and
his smile faded. "We can stuff him into this bag until I get
him to the mortuary."
"Yeah, we don't want the neighbors to see anything. Here,
open the bag for me." They spent the next few minutes
completing the unpleasant task of fitting the stiff body into the
duffel bag. When they were finished, Buffy sighed in relief and
said," Okay, let's haul him upstairs and into the trunk of
your car. The sooner we get him down to the funeral home and
safely cremated, the safer I'll feel, His partner must be getting
antsy by now, and we don't need any evidence lying around in case
he goes to the police. "
Giles easily lifted the bag and carried it upstairs. " I
wouldn't worry about that, Buffy. Going to the police would mean
implicating himself in the robbery. I think it's unlikely that he
would do that."
At the top of the stairs, Giles turned to head out the back door.
"Hey," Buffy called, "Your car is parked out
front."
Giles smiled mysteriously at her, and said, " Follow me, I
want to show you something," He stepped out on to the back
porch and waited for her to catch up. His eyes twinkled with
mischief as he said, "By the way, did I mention that I can
fly?" With that, he lifted straight up into the air. Buffy
stared open mouthed and speechless. "I'll take care of this
little problem and meet you back here in about an hour," he
called down to her.
Flying vampires, Buffy thought . What will they think of next?
She headed back inside to clean up the mess from the robbery, all
the while contemplating what that shirt would sound like when she
ripped it off of him.

Less than an hour later, the two were floating over Sunnydale,
kissing like Superman and Lois Lane. Buffy looked down at the
city below, and whispered, " I could definitely get used to
this."
"Yes," Giles answered. "I guess I should be
grateful that I was transformed by a superior form of vampire. I
must remember to thank Janette when we find her. " Buffy
tightened her hold on him. He gazed into her eyes. She stroked
his cheek and said lovingly, "Do you think it's possible to
do it while in mid air?"
Giles choked down laughter. "You certainly have a one track
mind," he said.
"That's your fault, buddy. I used to be shy and retiring
until you had your way with me."
Giles' snappy retort was interrupted when he caught sight of
someone on the ground below them. "Fasten your seatbelts and
make sure your tray is in the upright position, because we're
coming in for a landing. "
"Ooooh!" Buffy said appreciatively as he smoothly
glided down past the treetops to the ground. As his feet touched
down, he released her and said," Thank you for flying Air
Giles."
Buffy's laughter was cut off by her Slayer's sense of the
presence of another vampire. She whirled around looking for the
threat. Angel came out from among the trees. The expression on
his face told her that he had seen their landing. Giles stepped
toward him and said, "Hello Brother."
Angel's eyes went from Giles to Buffy, then slid down to the
large bandage that she had on her neck , and then back to Giles'
smirking face. "I guess I don't have to ask what happened to
you," he said.
"Congratulate me I've joined the club. Of course, I've
learned a few interesting pieces of information along the way.
Like the fact that one doesn't lose one's soul and become
possessed by a demon when one becomes a vampire. Interesting that
you never mentioned that fact before."
"I just let you continue believing the accepted story. I
thought it would be easier for you that way," he said
directing his gaze at Buffy.
Giles moved in front of her. " How thoughtful of you."
he said. "I'm sure that the fact that the demon possession
story took all the blame off of you for your actions for the past
200 odd years had nothing to do with it."
Angel sneered at him and said, "Listen up , newbie. Among
our kind, it's proper to show respect for your elders."
Giles's answer was dripping with contempt, "Trust me when I
say that I'm not one of your kind."
"Arrogant piece of Eurotrash!" Angel snarled moving in
on Giles.
"Boys, Boys!" Buffy said, pushing her way between them.
"If you two can stop fighting over who has the bigger fangs
for a moment, I'd like to point out that there is a dangerous and
powerful vampire slut on the loose in Sunnydale, and I would like
to stake her before she does any more damage." The two
undead rivals backed off. "That's better," Buffy said
with relief. "Now Angel, you must have noticed this cheap
French bimbo when she hit town. I mean, her kind of vampire isn't
common around here."
Angel nodded. "Yes. The locals are talking of nothing else.
The word is that the anointed one sent for her to help him
consolidate his power."
Giles snorted. "She would never lower herself to associate
with him. She feels nothing but disgust for these weak
creatures."
Buffy looked at him curiously. "How do you know that?"
"Because that's how I feel," he answered simply.
"Okay," Buffy said, "Look Angel, just tell us
where the tramp is staying and we'll take care of it."
"She's staying at the Claremont Hotel. Her kind like to go
first class."
"One should always go first class, or else what's the point
in going at all ?" Giles said snidely.
Angel glared at him, trying to figure out if he was being
insulted. Giles gathered Buffy up, as he prepared to take flight
again.
"Buffy, I think we need to talk soon," Angel said.
"She's busy. Run along and play," Giles answered and
took off.
* * *
Janette stood by the mirror admiring herself. The low cut black
dress showed off her dark hair and pale skin wonderfully. She
would knock them dead tonight. An evil little smile appeared,
they would certainly be dead at any rate. The vampire hunting
librarian that she had brought over on a whim last night, he had
been quite tasty. Janette smoothed her dress and wondered if she
would meet him out hunting tonight. She was rather curious to see
how vampirism had changed him.
There was a knock on the door. She crossed over and looked
through a peephole. A young blond girl stood outside. "What
do you want?" she called.
"Candygram," the girl called holding up an elaborately
wrapped box. Janette frowned. Who would send her such a useless
gift? A thought struck her. Lacroix. He might be in town. She had
been sensing a powerful vampire presence lately, and it certainly
wasn't any of the local weaklings. If Lacroix was here, then the
gift wasn't the candy, but the girl. Janette smiled in
anticipation. She opened the door and said, "Please come
in."
Buffy came in, popping her gum innocuously. What a disgusting
habit, Janette thought. I'll have to kill her quickly just to
make her stop. Janette took the box of candy and slammed the
door. "Let me get you a tip, " she purred. "Read
the card," Buffy said. "I bet it's from a secret
admirer or some rich guy. I mean, someone like you probably has
'em falling at your feet."
"An interesting choice of words, " Janette replied,
taking the card out of the envelope. "AAAHHH!!" she
screamed as her fingers began to sizzle.
"Oops, did I forget to mention that the card was dipped in
holy water? Where has my mind gone to these days? " Buffy
sneered as she yanked a stake out of her jacket. "Any last
words, you cheap bloodsucking psycho bitch?"
Janette's face transformed into a vampire's. She hissed at Buffy,
and backed away. She turned and through herself at the window.
The glass shattered, and she fell out, right into the waiting
arms of Giles. "Hello Mother. Want to go for a little
ride?"
He flew up above the hotel. Higher and higher, until the lights
of Sunnydale were specks below them. Janette twisted and clawed
to free herself, but Giles' grip was unbreakable. She realized
that the powerful vampire she had sensed earlier was him. How
that could be, since he was little more than a day old, she
couldn't guess.
At last they stopped. They floated, blown along by the wind.
Giles gazed down at the city, and whispered, "Isn't it
beautiful? When I was a boy I dreamed of flying, in an airplane,
of course. But this is much better, don't you think?"
"How can you be so strong?" Janette demanded.
Giles laughed, "Have you ever seen a Popeye cartoon?"
he asked. When he got no answer he continued, "Well, in the
cartoon, whenever Popeye gets into trouble he eats a can of
spinach and becomes super strong. In my case, I've found
something much tastier than spinach."
Janette quietly asked, "What?"
Giles pressed his lips close to her ear, "A Slayer."
Janette's gasp of surprise, filled him with delight.
"The candygram girl?" she asked, still in shock.
"Yes. You see, I wasn't just a vampire hunter. I was the
Watcher, charged with preparing the Slayer for her mission.
Unfortunately, you changed all that. "His hands moved up, to
caress her breasts. "Now, I'm the very creature that she is
sworn to destroy."
Janette reached her hand up and pulled his head down to her neck.
" Tell me, what do you plan to do to her and me?"
Giles licked her neck slowly, wondering what a vampire's blood
would taste like. She sensed his thoughts. "Go ahead, ' she
whispered sensuously. He sank his teeth into her neck, and drank
deeply. She was exotic, mysterious, and ruthless, all the things
he had imagined her to be. He released her neck and she sagged
limply against him.
"Turnabout is fair play," she said, moving her body
around to face him, and her mouth to his neck.
"I'm not in a very sportsmanlike mood, ' Giles responded,
shoving her fangs away. She glared at him with her huge dark
eyes. He pulled her into a savage kiss. She wrapped her arms
around his neck and returned his kiss passionately. She pulled
back, ever so slightly, and whispered, her lips still touching
his," You haven't told me what you're plans are? If you
drain the Slayer, your power will be unbelievable."
Giles stroked her lips with his tongue. "I know, but there
is a slight problem. I'm afraid that I'm in love with her. That
makes killing her out of the question."
Janette laughed, "Foolish boy! You can find love anywhere.
Power on the other hand is a much rarer treasure." She
kissed him again, revelling in his eager response." We have
love right now. Believe me, what we can have is so much better
than anything you can find with a mere mortal.'
Giles' hands moved down her back, until they rested on her
bottom. He pressed her against him, and she moaned softly.
"Do you think so?" he inquired.
"Oh yes. Kill the Slayer, and then I will show you things
that you can't even imagine."
Giles held her face in his hands. "I bet you could," he
said smiling. His hands reached into his pants. He stopped and
raised an eyebrow at her. She grinned widely, showing off her
delicate fangs. He reached into his pants and pulled out a stake.
Before the grin could fade from her face, he plunged it into her
heart. She looked up at him in utter astonishment as her life
slipped away.
"Sorry, I'm a one-woman vampire," he said. Janette's
eyes closed in death. Giles frowned in confusion when she didn't
turn to dust. "How inconvenient, " he sighed, and
dropped her .
She fell and fell, until he heard a thud on the streets below
him.
* * *
Giles flew in through the window of Janette's hotel room and saw
Buffy sitting on the bed. He landed neatly and walked over to
her, a wicked smile on his face. She looked up at him, a
challenging look in her eyes. His smile widened as he pushed her
down and lowered himself on top of her. She frowned. "I take
it that Janette won't be coming back to interrupt us?"
"Not unless her ghost decides to haunt," Giles said
nuzzling her neck. She smacked him soundly. "Now who's the
one with a one track mind? Besides, I don't want to make out in a
dead woman's bed. It's creepy."
Giles continued his kisses, undaunted. He pulled the shirt off
over her head. Buffy sighed and said, "You're not listening
to me, are you?" He grunted something unintelligible, as he
buried his head between her breasts. Buffy found her own
objections to the situation fading. He quickly and efficiently
stripped her, then started to work on his own clothes. Buffy
watched him with a slight smile on her face. When he finished, he
moved to cover her body with his own, but Buffy grabbed him by
the shoulder and flipped him over so that she was on top.
She straddled him, and looked down at his annoyed/amused
expression. "It's my turn," she said smugly. He grasped
her hips and pulled her firmly to him. Buffy giggled as she felt
his warm and very large erection pressing against her.
"You're not a very patient man, are you?" Seeing the
dangerous expression in his eyes, she stopped teasing him and let
his hands guide her down onto him. her body shivered with
pleasure as he impaled her.
She began to move, rocking him gently. His finger played up and
down her spine. His eyes were dark and hungry. She took hold of
his shoulder and began to work his body in earnest. He moaned and
she felt his fingers bruising her hips as he thrust harder,
desperate for release. His face changed again to that of a
vampire. Odd, but Buffy was starting to find that quite erotic.
"Do you want to bite me?" she whispered breathlessly.
"Yes!!" he groaned.
Buffy took one of his hands off of her hips and placed it on her
breast, encouraging him to fondle her. "Say please, "
she demanded.
"Please," he whimpered.
She leaned forward, but held his greedy mouth at bay. "Wait
for it!" she insisted. Her body at last , responded to his
steady onslaught, and she shuddered delightedly. At the very peak
of her climax, she lowered her neck to his waiting mouth. His
teeth sank into her and she felt his release inside of her. Then
everything faded into darkness.
When she awoke, she was lying, still naked in Janette's bed.
Giles' was standing by the window, fully clothed. She stretched
languorously and made a low rumbling noise in her throat. Giles
turned, and seeing her awake, came to the bed and kissed her
forehead. "Good morning, " he said.
"Morning?" Buffy said in confusion.
"2 am to be exact. I better get you home soon," he
answered. Buffy pouted. "I don't want to go home. I'd much
rather stay here with you. What time is checkout anyway?"
He ran his hand lovingly across her cheek. "Remember I have
to get back home before daylight." He stood up and handed
her her clothes. "I have a lot of things to take care of. I
no longer have a job and I need to find a way to make money. I
feel the urge to splurge. A new car perhaps, and a new
wardrobe." Buffy grinned, while pulling on her clothes.
"You've got a whole new attitude."
"Yes, I suppose I do. There's nothing like joining the ranks
of the undead to change one's point of view. " He walked
over to the dresser and opened a box full of jewelry. " I
imagine these will tide me over for awhile.'
Buffy's eyes grew round. "Is that her stuff? Should you just
take it?"
Giles' grin was positively malicious. "Of course, I consider
it an inheritance. After all, she was my vampire mother. Come
along Buffy, let's get you home. You mother will worry."
"She'd worry more if she new what I was actually
doing."
Giles handed her the jewelry box and lifted her up. He moved to
the window and said, "We're going to have to think of some
way of explaining me to your new Watcher."
Buffy snorted. "Don't worry. I can handle him."
Noticing his skeptical raised eyebrow, she added, "I've
never had any trouble handling you, now have I?" He smiled,
leapt out of the window and glided off into the night.
